For dinner we decided to stay in instead of fighting crowds of people at restaurants. I cooked crawfish etouffee and attempted my first cheesecake. I did blueberry cheesecake because J loves it. Neither were spectacular but i did the best i could. I definitely could use some practice. All in all it was a fabulous day staying in with my love.

Valentine's Heaven
Today is our first valentine's day as a married couple. J had my favorite bouquet, red roses and white calla lilies, delivered to me at work earlier this week. They are so beautiful! I included a pic of them below. This is the pic i found online, not an actual picture of the ones i got because i didn't take one. He also gave me the new Almond Joy pieces. How exciting!!! He is the best husband i could ever ask for.

The Red, White, and Blue
I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend, i know i did. I just got back from a weekend at the beach and wanted to post Thursday's cake for you. It was our last class of our beginner's class. We even got a certificate!!! So cute..
Hope and I of course made our cakes festive so we could enjoy them along with all the great food we ate. I left my cake at work for them to enjoy and we brought Hope's to Florida. We decided to make some stars on top of our cakes and insert a few scattered jumbo start sprinkles i bought a little while back. We also sprinkled the top with red, white, and blue non-pareils. The cake was red velvet. We didn't have enough food coloring so we used half of what the recipe called for. The cakes were okay but there is another recipe i want to try for a better outcome. The icing started to melt off the sides but it was delicious!
